Background
Originally from New Jersey, Sara started figure skating at age 4. She began competitive singles at age 7 and currently competes at the Senior level for the University of Michigan Figure Skating Club. In addition to skating in multiple local competitions per year, she is a 6-time North Atlantic Regional Championships competitor. She is the 2021 Excel Nationals Silver Medalist in Senior Ladies, the 2022 Intercollegiate National Final Silver Medalist in Excel Senior Ladies, the 2023 Intercollegiate National Final Silver Medalist in Senior Ladies Short Program, and holds 11 Intercollegiate Midwestern Conference competition medals.
Sara is a Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at UofM, with a minor in Law, Justice, and Social Change.
Experience
Sara served as a Learn to Skate Assistant Coach from 2018 to 2020, becoming a Learn to Skate Instructor in the Fall of 2020. She taught Learn to Skate classes and conducted private lessons with the North Jersey Figure Skating Club until August 2021, when she began teaching LTS with the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club. She has worked with AAFSC since then, serving as an Interim Learn to Skate Director in the summer of 2023 and conducting private lessons with the club. Sara is extremely passionate in helping her students succeed on and off the ice, driven by teaching constructively, building students’ confidence, and sharing her love for the sport.
