Background:
I grew up skating at the Hayden Recreation Centre in Lexington, MA where I also began my synchro journey with Hayden Synchro. I competed with Hayden Synchro for 13 years which included skating on Lexettes (jr.) for 2 years and Hayden Select (elite 12) for 3 years. I was an inaugural member of Hayden Select, the first elite 12 team in the world, and we were able to earn Team USA status for the new team. With these two teams, I have had to honor to represent Team USA internationally, and I have come home with 8 international medals including 3 international golds.
Through my years of training, a lot of emphasis has been put into individual basic skating skills which has provided me with extensive knowledge on edge control, turn quality, flow, ankle and knee bend quality, upper body control, and more. I also love working on body movement and using the music/movements to share stories. While competing, I earned a B.S. in Business Management with minors in Marketing and International Business from Framingham State University.
Experience:
I started coaching through the Hayden Recreation Centre Learn-to-Skate program as well as helping out with the Intro-to-Synchro class in 2016. In 2021, I began to coach private lessons where we would work on their Skating Skills tests, synchro skills, and their synchro programs. I also took the lead in the Intro-to-Synchro class and began helping out on occasion with the Hayden Synchro Developmental Teams. Through this, I developed my coaching philosophy. I believe in growing the basic skating skills of the athlete and increasing their skating knowledge so they can continue to properly push themselves independently along with their coaches. I also believe in enjoying the process of learning and creating a positive environment both on and off the ice.
In summer 2024, I moved to Michigan to be the Assistant Synchronized Skating Coach for the Adrian College Senior Elite 12 and Collegiate teams. I also became one of the assistant coaches for Hockettes Junior. I am now in Ann Arbor full-time as the assistant coach for Hockettes Intermediate, Preliminary, and Aspire 3. On top of coaching synchro, I am also coaching private lessons.
