Background:

As the Interim Director of the Hockettes I lead the club’s on ice training. I work directly with each of our coaches to help establish skating skills, program outlines and music each season. I work to create a program wide skill progression that will help our youngest skaters navigate from the beginning levels of our sport to the highest levels.

I am also the head coach of both our Junior and Senior Elite 12 teams. For these teams I plan practices, set requirements, and work with my co-coaches to develop the team’s programs.

Outside of the rink I continue my coaching education through USFSA. I also work with judges to help understand how our teams can earn the highest technical and component marks.

Experience:

Head Coach Hockettes Senior Elite 2023- Present :

2024 National Synchronized Skating Silver Medalists.

Head Coach of Hockettes Junior 2019- Present:

Team USA 2022 and 2024. Mozart Cup Silver Medalists 2022. 4th Place finish at French Cup 2024.

Assistant Coach for Hayden Synchronized Skating Teams 2012- 2016. Novice National Champions as well as 3 time Intermediate National Medalists.

Passion and Values:

My core values are in sportsmanship and teamwork. I believe all skaters can do whatever they set their mind to, as long as they are willing to put in the work.

It is important to me as a coach to teach my athletes a strong understanding of skating technique. This technique stems from an understanding of balance on the blade at all times. Once a skater is balanced, it is easy to generate speed and flow.

As a synchro coach it is also important to me that my skaters fully understand the technical levels along with component marks. I believe that for a skater to reach their peak, they must understand what the judges are looking for.

Finally, I believe in the skaters who are passionate about the sport!

Personal Interest:

Having studied for 7 years at the Collegiate level, I believe in lifelong learning. I love to read new information on how best to work with young athletes.

I am also an avid waterskier! The technique of waterski translates shockingly well to ice skating.
