Jenny Patero Schneider

Background:

Jen began skating in 1981, when she quickly fell in love with performing.  Throughout her 10 year amateur career, she spent several summers training with international coaches.  Jen was a regional Gold medalist, as well as a USFS Gold medalist in freestyle and dance.  She performed in her club ice show for 10 years, in addition to guest skating for other local clubs, even attaining a position with Disney on Ice, which she declined to finish her college degree.  Jen is married and enjoys watching her adult twin boys and step daughter venture into their next chapters.

Experience:

Jen began her coaching career in 1990, and has coached skaters from basic skills through Gold Moves in the Field and Freestyle, including several regional medalists. Her skaters have gone on to perform with Ice Capades, coach MSU Synchronized Skating Team, direct learn to skate programs, and play KHL level hockey (top professional league in Europe).  Jen’s management background includes Figure Skating Director for Plymouth FSC, Westland FSC, and Learn to Compete programming for Farmington Hills FSC and Livonia FSC.  Jen is a local Ice Show Director and Head Coach of the Livonia High School Figure Skating Team.  The high school team was created in 2015, and the team has been a District medalist, qualifying for State Championships, every year, attaining a State silver medal in 2019.  Jen has sat on the Board of Directors for several clubs, including a growth and development committee.

While Jen enjoys private lessons, coaching Moves in the Field and Freestyle, her passion is using her dance degree in choreography and directing shows.  In addition, she dabbles in assisting with Synchronized Team coaching, and enjoys creating Showcase and Theatre programs.  Jen enjoys the grassroots of Learn to Skate, where the true love of the sport begins.

Lessons are generally 25 min in length, with 25 min of practice time.  Skaters are never too young, or too old, to begin skating.  She is excited to share her passion with the Ann Arbor figure skaters!
